about

Lauren

Westwood House of Design is a residential interior design firm specializing in custom furnishings and a traditional design aesthetic. Based on our core design beliefs we have two questions that guide us through every project:

"How do we express our client through this design?"
"Does this space feel as though it was collected over time?"

An Iowa native, Lauren has had a talent for design since she was a young child. Growing up in a creative family of art teachers, interior designers, and a father who is an architect, she loved to see those around her create something beautiful from what they had dreamed up in their mind. What started as expressing her love for arts and creating through painting, drawing, and dance as a child, grew into a love for fashion, interior design, and cooking.

Lauren started her journey at Iowa State University. Her studies there led her the Twin Cities to work in the fashion industry focused on custom design and styling. But a relocation to Des Moines brought her back to her family and what she grew up around; interiors. Lauren embraced the call she felt to create beautiful homes, and embarked on an interior design journey that led her to opening Westwood House of Design in 2022.

To Lauren, interior design offers an opportunity to really love where you live. And working as an interior designer offers her the opportunity to know and connect with people in her community, helping  them discover the true potential of their space.

design philosophy

Refreshingly classic. Thoughtfully curated. Comfortably you.

CLASSIC

CURATED

COMFORTABLE

Also referred to as timeless or traditional, a classic design aesthetic is placeless, comfortable, and put together; but not overly fancy.

A curated home is an intentionally decorated one. It incorporates collected items that are carefully chosen and work together to create spaces that look personal, interesting, and cohesive; telling your story.

Comfort in a home comes from the harmony between each of its elements; the colors, furniture placement, lighting, decor, and architecture-- It all influences the way we feel and how relaxed we feel in our spaces.
